Physics 1 - 1.3

?
What are the three states of matter?
Solid, Liquid, Gas.
1 of 7
How do we make substances change between the states of matter?
By heating or cooling them.
2 of 7
In a solid, what do the particles do?
Vibrate about fixed positions so the solid has a fixed shape.
3 of 7
In a liquid, how do the particles move?
The particles are in contact with each other but can move about at random, so a liquid doesn't have a fixed shape and can flow.
4 of 7
In a gas, how do the particles move?
The particles are usually far apart and move at random much faster, so a gas doesn't have a fixed shape and can flow.
5 of 7
Is a gas more or less dense than a solid or liquid?
Less.
6 of 7
What are they key words for this topic?
Solid, Liquid, Gas.
