MS Technique.
A figure of eight and a cardioid microphone are placed 90 degrees of each other. The cardioid points straight at the source and the figure of Eight picks up the sound from the sides.

XY Technique.
Two cardioid microphones are placed so that the capsules are next to each other which creates a Stereo image because the polar patterns of the capsules are combined. As both of the capsules are touching, the recording will work in Mono as well.

What does ADSR stand for?
Attack, Decay, Sustain, Release.

Parameter
Its an element that can be manipulated separately from other elements.

Attack
The time taken for the parameter to increase from 0 to the maximum level. The more Attack applied, the longer it will take.

Decay
The time taken for the parameter level to decrease to the Sustain level.

Sustain
The level the parameter is held whilst the key is pressed.

Release
The time taken for the parameter to decrease to 0 once the key is released. The more Release applied, the longer it will take.

What does LFO stand for and what does it do?
Low Frequency Oscillator. It's used to alter a parameter over time.

Bucket Brigade Delay.
Like an old-school fire fighter passes a bucket of water to the next, it hands the signal off to the next stage. This delays the signal creating the effect. The longer the delay however, the more unwanted noise is produced.
