Many people believed that Gods, Godesses and evil spirits were the cause of disease. They believed that if you did not act right the Gods would punish you by giving you a disease.

The Egyptians had good land which meant they could trade to discover more remedies and perhaps technology which could help prevention. Also, religion was a huge factor for the Egyptians which greatly hindered the process of new ideas.
