1. What is meant by promotion?
The term refers to all the methods a business uses to make customers aware of their product. Promotion methods a business could use include advertising, sponsorship, direct marketing and sales promotion.

Communication to consumers, using television and other media, to encourage them to buy a particular product.

This is where a business has the postal address or email address of a customer and sends a promotion directly to the customer. Tesco do this very effectively.
