Norms are the unwritten rules of society that determine acceptable behaviour in particualr situations.

Values
Values refers to what is seen as correct behaviour.

Relativity
Relativity is specific to a particular situation, period in history, the soical group invloved or the society. NOT GENERAL.

Idenitiy
Identity is how we see ourselves and how others see us.

Status
Status is the amount of prestige a person's position in society gives them.

Ascribed Status
Asbribed Status is the soical status a person is assigned to at birth or assumed involuntarily later in life. It is a position that is neither earned nor chosen but ASSIGNED.

Achieved Status
Achieved status us a soical position that a person can acquire on the basis of merit; it is a position that is earned or chosen. It is the opposite of ascribed status. It reflects on personal skills, abilities and efforts.
