Misty fumes of HBr. In excess H2SO4 orange fumes of Br2 are produced.

Fumes of H2S and solid iodine.

Testing for Halides: Chlorine/bromine/iodine...
Add HNO3 to AgNO3 and then add to the solution. A white/cream/yellow precipitate forms.

Damp red litmus paper- should turn blue.

Positive Test for Sulfate ions...
Add dilute HCl, followed by BaCl2 (aq). Forms a WHITE precipitate.

Dip red litmus paper into the solution. Paper should turn blue.

Add dilute HCl, the solution should fizz. Then test with limewater.
