- K+. Nerve impulses. Muscle contraction. Regulating fluid balance. Activates essential enzyme for photosynthesis in plants. (9)
- NH4+. Absorbed by plants from soil, important source of nitrogen for e.g amino acids, nucleic acids. (8)
- NO3-. Absorbed by plants from soil. Important source of nitrogen. (7)
- OH-. Affects the pH of substances. More OH- creates more Alkali. (9)
- PO43-. Photosynthesis and respiration reactions. Needed for synthesis of biological reactions eg nucleotides, phospholipids, calcium phosphate. (9)
