?
How do somatic cells divide?
Somatic cells divide by mitosis to form more somatic cells.
1 of 5
What is cellular differentiation?
Cellular differentiation is the process by which a cell develops more specialised functions by expressing the genes characteristic for that type of cell.
2 of 5
What are stem cells and what are the 2 types of stem cells?
Stem cells are unspecialised somatic cells that can divide to make copies of themselves (self-renew) and/or differentiate into specialised cells. The two types are embryonic and tissue (adult).
3 of 5
What are tissue (adult) stem cells used for and are they multipotent or pluripotent?
They are involved in the growth, repair and renewal of the cells found in that tissue. They are multipotent.

What are embryonic stem cells used for and are they multipotent or pluripotent?
