Diction
Use of short, concrete words in media texts to take up less space, aid reader' immediate understanding & produce impact. E.g. "probe" rather than "in - depth investigation". More commonly used in tabloid newspapers.

Process of creating a new word out of an old word or affix (e.g. suffix -ly changes adjectives into adverbs).
