Glacier
A huge mass of ice slowly moving over a land mass like a river.
1 of 7
The Albedo Effect
1. White surfaces, e.g. ice/snow, reflect more heat hence less heat is absorbed. 2. This effect snowballs until a lot of ground is covered by snow or ice.
2 of 7
Ice Age
A perioed when ice sheets cover large areas of the world.

Interglacial Period
A perioed between Ice Ages (we are in one!).

Firn or Neve

5 of 7
Internal Friction
Sheets in glaciers slide over each other.
