What way is lateral erosion?
Left and right
2 of 26
What way is vertical erosion?
Down
3 of 26
What is the source of the river?
The beginning of the river
4 of 26
What is the mouth of the river?
The end of the river leading out towards a lake or sea
5 of 26
What is the long profile of a river?
Long profile Shows the change in the height of the river and how the gradient changes along its course
6 of 26
What is the cross profile of a river?
Shows the cross section in a river
7 of 26
What is deposition?
When a river loses energy
8 of 26
What is a earthquake?
When 2 plates collide together therefore use force to pass each other; shaking the land
9 of 26
How do people manage earthquakes?
Earthquake Resistant Buildings are built .Emergency Plans are drawn up and drills are done on occasions. Seismometers are also used to detect earthquakes.

What is a meander?
A bend or curve in a river.
20 of 26
What is the main current?
The movement of the water.
21 of 26
What is erosion on meander bends?
The outside of the bends where the water is most likely to erode
22 of 26
What is deposition on meander bends?
The inside of the bends where the water is least likely to erode.
23 of 26
How do you form an oxbow lake?
1) A bend in the river pushes the fastest flow of water to the outside. 2) Overtime it creates a swans neck effect. During a flood the path breaks creating a break. 3) The straight lake separates from the curved lake. Volia! Oxbow lake!
24 of 26
How are levees made?
1) small carried materials brush on the river banks. 2) Materials layer on top. 3) levees!
