Newton
The force required to move a mass of 1kg with an acceleration of 1m/s².
1 of 17
Newton's First Law...
Every object will remain at rest or in uniform motion unless an exernal force is applied to it.
2 of 17
Newton's Second Law...
The rate of change of momentum of an object is directly proportional to the resultant force acting upon it.
3 of 17
Newton's Third Law...
If body A exerts a force on body B, then body B exerts a force that is: equal, opposite and of the same type, onto body A.
4 of 17
Linear momentum...
Mass of the object multiplied by it's velocity (p= mv)
5 of 17
Law of Momentum
Total momentum is ALWAYS conserved in a closed system.
6 of 17
Impulse
Change in momentum = to area under force-time graph (Δp=FΔt)
7 of 17
Elastic Collision
A collision in which kinetic energy isn't lost (it's conserved)
8 of 17
Inelastic Collision
A collision in which kinetic energy isn't conserved (usually lost as sound, heat etc.)
9 of 17
Explosive
A collision where kinetic energy is gained.
10 of 17
Radian
The angle at which a circle's radius and arc length are equal.
11 of 17
Converting radians/degrees
radians-->degrees 180/π Degrees--> radians π/180 (What you want on top)
12 of 17
Centripetal Force
Acts towards the centre of rotation. It's always perpendicular to direction of motion.
13 of 17
Gravitational Field Strength (N/kg)
Force per unit mass at that point in the field.
14 of 17
Newton's Law of Gravitation
The gravitational force of attraction between two bodies is directly proportional to the product of the two masses. It is also inversely proportional to the distance between the two bodies squared.
15 of 17
Newton's Law of Gravitation- Equation
-GMm/r²
16 of 17
Simple Harmonic Motion
An oscillation where acceleration of an object is directly proportional to dispalcemet acting towards equilibrium point. (a=-x)
