Ethics (also known as comparative ethics) which is the empirical study of peoples beliefs about morality

Deals with theories that indicate that the consequence of an action dictate the judgement about that action, i.e. a morally correct action produces good consequences

Non-consequentialism: Claims an action can be right even if bad consequences result (do unto others as they would have done to them). Outcome is secondary, motive is important

Ethics which is person-based: examines the moral character of the person carrying out the action. How does the decision fit in with what a good character would decide?C

Care
Ethics which concentrates on the responses made within the context of a given situation. Emphasis on nurturing. Respect the thoughts and feelings of all concerned
