What's fordism?
its the economic view based on mass production on assembly lines. The Marxist view of education assumes workers are being prepared for the capitalist system.

Workplaces have moved beyond fordism. They are more diverse + have a flexible workforce.

What is post modernism?
This view argues that education is more diverse, in order to provide a more flexible and creative work force. Believes the Marxist view is outdated.

Evaluation of the Marxist view
Post modernists believe that the marxist view fails to consider changes to post-fordist societies.
Critics of Willis - he romanticises the 'lads' as WC heroes. Sexist and bullying.

Viewed the people who conformed, as 'scornful', calling them 'ear'oles'. 'taking the ****' out of the 'ear'oles' and girls.

How did the lads view the school's 'meritocratic ideology' and how did they show resistance?
They reject the idea that schools meritocratic ideology, that the working class pupils achieve middle-class jobs. They showed resistance through smoking, drinking, disrupting classes and traunting.

This view is an economic doctrine with major influence on education policy

This view believes that the state should not provide services like education, healthcare and welfare.
It's based on the idea that state must not dictate to individuals how to dispose of their property, and should not regulate a free-market economy.
