Hierarchy
Human affairs require leadership from a small number of individuals. Successful structures have an uneven distribution of power. (~Hobbes, Burke, New Right Conservatives believe in a hierarchy but that social progress in more of a possibility)

Authority
The right for some (those with authority) to make decisions that others must accept. This is associated with a strong sense of law and order.

Change to Conserve
The idea that for a traditional value or institution to be preserved, it has to be continuously updated and maintained.

Atomism
Humans seek autonomy and space, therefore society is made of individuals.

Noblesse Oblige/Paternalism
Power and privilege comes with responsibility towards others. The relationship between the stronger and weaker elements of society are akin to a father-son relationship.

Anti-permissiveness
Policies that seeked to reverse social liberalism from the 1960s onwards (perhaps in response to the free love movement). Neo-conservative in nature such policies aims to criticise divorce, abortion and homosexuality.

Any endeavor for the 'perfect' society is misguided and dangerous as humanity is flawed. This view echoes that of original sin. Extent to which strands of the ideology use this, is varied.

The concept that decisions should be made based upon the current evidence/situation not rooted in ideology.

Minarchist state/Privatisation
One in which public services are outsourced to private companies in order to reduce state intervention. These private companies evolve from communities that are self-sufficient and have full ownership of their property.

Based on Kant's idea that individuals in society cannot be treated as a thing, or used against their will as a resource.
