Residential Establishments
Residential Establishments provide food and drink as well as accommodation. These establishments are run to make a profit. Examples of these establishments are: Hotels, Guest houses, holiday parks, farmhouses,public houses and B&B'S.

Non-Residential Establishments
Non-Residential establishments only provide food and/or drink. These are run to make a profit. Examples of non-residential establishments are: Cafés, Restaurants, fast-food outlets, wine bars, delicatessen/salad bars, take-aways and school meals.

Non-commercial residential establishments
Non-commercial residential establishments are also known as Public sector catering or welfare catering. These are NON-COMMERCIAL establishments so don't make a profit. Examples are: Hospitals, residential homes, prisons and armed forces.

Industrial Catering
Run by industries to feed workers, assuming better fed workers produce better work. Run to make a small profit, meals subsidised for staff.

Outside/ Franchise Catering
A catering company who goes out to events and does the catering for them. Run to make a profit.

Transport catering
Transport catering is usually on trains and cruise liners. This is run to make a profit.

Commercial Catering: Hotels, restaurants, clubs, wine bars and pubs. Run to make a profit.
Hotels, restaurants, clubs, wine bars and pubs can also be known as commercial catering because they are run to make a profit.
