How do cancers form?
Cancers form as a result of uncontrolled cell growth and division

Benign and Malignant

What's a benign tumour?
Benign tumours are growths of abnormal cells contained by a membrane. They don't invade other parts of the body.

What is a malignant tumour?
Malignant tumours are cancer. They can spread around the body in the blood to form secondary tumours.

Name two cancer treatments.
Radiotherapy and Chemotherapy

What is Radiotherapy?
Radiotherapy is when targeted doses of radiation destroy the cancer cells. It stopes mitosis in cancer cells but can also damage healthy cells.

What is Chemotherapy?
Chemotherapy uses chemicals to stop the cancer calls dividing or make them 'self-destruct'.
