Organ Systems 1 of 14 What are similar cells organised into? Tissues! 2 of 14 Define Tissue A tissue is a group of similar cells that work together to carry a particular funtion 3 of 14 What are tissues organised into? Organs! 4 of 14 What are organs organised into? Organ systems! 5 of 14 What does muscular tissue do? Muscular tissue contracts to move whatever it is attached to, e.g it moves the stomach wall to churn up food 6 of 14 What does Glandular tissue do? Glandular Tissue makes and makes and secretes chemicals (Like Enzymes and hormones or digestive juices to digest food) 7 of 14 What does Epithelial Tissue do? Epithelial Tissue covers parts of body, like the outside and inside of the stomach 8 of 14 What do the glands do? Glands, like the Pancreas and salivary glands) produce stomach juices (Glands = Made up of Glandular Tissue) 9 of 14 What does the stomach and small intestine do? They both digest food! 10 of 14 What does the liver produce? The liver produces bile! 11 of 14 What does the LARGE intestine do? The LARGE intestine absorbs water from undigested food leaving behind faeces 12 of 14 What does the small intestine do? Digests SOLUBLE food molecules 13 of 14 To summarise, what does the digestive system do?
