What is temporal summation?
One neurone releases neurotransmitters which causes an action potential in the post synaptic neurone

Two neurones release neurotransmitter which causes an action potential in the post synaptic neurone

How is acetylcholine 'recycled'? Why is it important?
Acetylcholineterase hydrolyses acetylcholine to choline and ethanoic acid which diffuses back into the presynaptic neurone; This prevents continuously regenerating an action potential in postsynaptic neurone

How does muscle relax?
Calcium ions actively transported into endoplasmic reticulum; Tropomyosin then block the actin filament; Myosin head now unable to bind to actin filaments

How do chemical mediators effect cells?
Substances that effect surrounding cells and travel via simple diffusion (not in the blood)

Outline the second messenger model
Adrenaline approaches receptor site; Adrenaline fuses to receptor site and activates an enzyme inside the membrane; Activated enzyme converts ATP to cyclic AMP which acts as a second messenger to activate other enzymes that convert glycogen to glucos
