1 of 9
Wavelength
Distance between successive wave peaks of the wave.
2 of 9
Red Shift
The shift to longer wavelengths at the red end of the spectrum in light from a source moving away from us.
3 of 9
Blue Shift
The shift to shorter wavelengths at the blue end of the spectrum in light from a source moving towards us.
4 of 9
Spectroscopic Binary
Two stars cannot bee resolved.
5 of 9
Cepheid Variable Stars
These stars vary in brightness with a period of the order of days.
6 of 9
Big Bang Theory
The Universe is expanding as it was created in a massive 'primordial' explosion and has been expanding ever since.
7 of 9
Dark Energy
Hidden energy being released by a hitherto-unknown type of force causing the Universe to accelerate.
8 of 9
