Dimensions
2.5km long, 0.5 km wide

What are the 3 types of weathering?
Biological, chemical, physical
3 of 6
1 biological form of weathering and what it is
1. Root growth (As the plant grows, roots grow, causing fractures in the rock)
4 of 6
2 physical forms of weathering
1. Insulation weathering (45c- -10c large temp range causes rock surface to expand and contract causing flaking) 2. Freeze thaw (temperatures alternate around freezing point, water in cracks expands/ contracts causing fractures, causing aveoles)
5 of 6
2 chemical forms of weathering
1. Oxidisation (Oxygen dissolved in water reacts with iron in rock =high amount of oxides in rock= weakening/ red colouration) 2. Salt crystal growth (High temps= saline groundwater to surface= evapouration/ growth in joints= granular disintergration
