Location
- Largest rainforest on earth (around 8million km²) - Found within 5 degrees north and south of equator, between the 2 tropics (Cancer and Capricorn). - Parts of Brazil, Peru, Columbia, Venezuela, Equador, Bolivia, Guyana, Suriname and French Guiana.

Climate
- Same all yr round - no definite seasons. - Hot (usually between 20C-28C). - Near equator, sun is overhead all yr round. - Very high rainfall, around 2000mm per year. - Rains everyday, usually in afternoon.

Soil
- Soil isnt very fertile as heavy rain washes nutrients away. - Nutrients at surface due to decayed leaf fall, but this leaf is very thin as decay is fast in the warm, moist sunshine.

Plants
-Most plants are evergreen (dont drop leaves in particular season)-continually grow.-Really tall plants and vegetation is dense-very little light reaches forest floor.-Epiphytes (plants growing on other living plants+take nutrients/moisture from air.

Animals
- Rainforests supposedly contain more animal species than any other ecosystem. - E.g. gorillas, jaguars, anacondas, tree frogs and sloths. - Many species of insects and birds. - Brightly coloured and noisy.

People
- Home to many people, who have adapted to life there over generations. - Make a living by hunting and fishing, gathering nuts and berries and growing veg in small garden plots.
