What is urban resurgence?
this is the movement of people back to the city centre.

How did the Urban development corporations improve the London Docklands and Liverpool?
In 1979, many city centres were in decline. The government created agencies called UCDs, which used private sector funding to restore derelict areas.
The corporation built 24,000 new homes and built new schools and community centres.

How did the enterprise zones scheme improve cities?
Enterprise zones were set up in the 80s to help tackle unemployment by attracting companies to the area to create jobs - they did this by reducing tax. By 1990 more than 125000 people were employed.

Local authorities competed for government funding to regenerate deprived urban areas. Funding was allocated to projects that benefited the local community e.g. improving houses and creating jobs for local people.
