whilst people are the best managers of their own mental health, they often lack accurate information and regular support. part of active dialogue. Information is best given - fits with the beliefs and prior knowledge may already have.

For example, where a patient is considering stopping taking antidepressants before the prescribed term is up, you will need to give information on how antidepressants work, including the rate of relapse, to help the patient make an informed decision.
