Why did appeasement fail?

• Neville Chamberlain became prime minister in 1937
• From then on appeasement was Britain's main approach
• Chamberlains way was to find out what Hitler wanted. He wanted to show him that if his claims were reasonable, they could be discussed.
• Chamberlain thought that Germany still had greivences under the Treaty of Versailles, he thought these could be solved by negotiation
