Using bacteria in genetic engineering
Why do we want to use genetic engineering?
- To improve a feature of the recipient organism e.g. giving certain plants resistance to herbicides
- So we can engineer organisms which can synthesise useful products e.g. inserting human hormones such as insulin into bacteria
