  • planned  & led the oct rev
  • commanded red army during civil war
  • gifted…

You have not included Stalin's role in the Orgburo, Politburo and as General Secretary and Commisaire of Nationalities. His power base within the party is probably more important than the factors you have covered. 

Also ideological differences between Trotsky and Stalin.
