Feb 22 - a series of bitter strikes at the Putilov Arms Factory in Petrograd about wages, hours and rising prices culminates in a lock-out by employers. 20,000 angry workers are now on the streets, along with women protesting food and fuel shortages

Feb 23 - International Women's Day demonstrators are joined by 90,000 strikers. 50 factories are now closed. Soldiers are reluctant to use force

Feb 24 - Strikes spread throughout Petrograd and beyond. 200,000 workers are on strike. More factories are occupied by workers. There are food riots. Crowds call for an end to Tsarism

Feb 25 - 250,000 people are on strike (half the cities workforce), bringing Petrograd to a standstill. All major factories and most shops are closed, there are now newspapers or public…
