Intrusions

• Distress at exposure to cues, physiological responses

• Avoid the thoughts, places and people linked to the event 
• Numbing, dealing with pain by feeling nothing
• Less interest in social engagement
• Sense of foreshortened future

Negative Alteration in Cognition and Mood 

• Feelings of detatchment 
• Emotional states, eg. anger, shame, distorted blame of self or others

Arousal and Reactivity 

• Increased startle response 
• Aggression
• Insomnia
• Lack of concentration
