BYSTANDER APATHY IS WHEN ONLOOKERS DO NOTHING IN AN EMERGENCY WHEN SOMEONE IS IN NEED OF HELP BECAUSE THEY THINK SOMEBODY ELSE WILL DO IT.

AIM: To investigate diffusion of responsibility.

METHOD:

- Participantds were asked to have a conversation with another person through an intercom.

- The real participant thought that the person was in the room:-

  • on their own
  • with 1 other person
  • with 4 other people

- The confederate pretended to hve a seizure in the room and the researcher
