Why have Sects, Cults and NRMS grown and why do they mostly attract the young and middle-class ?

The growth of Sects and Cults-

Weber - Marginality-

Sects tend to develop amongst marginal groups within society, these are people who are living outside the mainstream of social life and are perhaps not receiving the status or economic rewards they deserve.

A solution to this problem is a Sect that tended to develop ' a theodicy of disprivilege' - a religious explanation and justification for their disadvantage, often promising them salvation and a sense of honour in the afterlife.
