What is the Sacrament of Reconciliation?

REMEMBER THAT A SACRAMENT IS AN OUTWARD SIGN OF INWARD GRACE. GOD IS PRESENT DURING THE SACRAMENT.

The Sacrament of Reconciliation is sometimes known as penance or confession. It occurs when you ask God to forgive you for your sins and you show you are sorry. The background to it was when Jesus rose from the dead, came to the disciplines and said 'receive the Holy Spirit, If you forgive anyone their sins, they are forgiven.

Individual Reconciliation

This is when you go and speak privately to a priest, confess your sins and ask the priest to forgive you. By speaking to the priest, you are actually speaking to God and God is forgiving you through the priest. It usually takes place in a confessional (a small, private box).
