Impacts of Cumbrain flood 2009


Over 1300 people had their homes flooded

Power supplies where cut off and schools closed

Lots of bridges collapsed


Insurance companies said that damage cost came up to 100 million

Local businesses closed


Many livestock where killed and pastures where convered in rocks carried downstream

Farm buildings and fences and walls where destroyed

Long term impact for farmers; 

Loss in business

Have to put in flood defences

Local people;

Have to potentially relocate

Put in flood defences

shop owners;

Also invest in flood defences

Have to repair flood damges
