RETRIEVAL FAILURE, STATE AND CUE DEPENDENT
-Cue-dependent retrieval failure: happens when you cannot access a memory in LTM as there are no cues to help you.
-Cue: provides the context required to retrieve the memory.
ENCODING SPECIFICTY PRINCIPLE ( TULVING 1983)
- Cues must be present when a memory is encoded.
-If cues arent present, forgetting occurs.
CONTEXT-DEPENDENT FORGETTING- RESEARCH SUPPORT (BADDELEY + GODDEN 1975)
-Aimed to see if their was a difference between learning and recalling material either on land or underwater.
