psychology 2nd lesson:
- coding: the format which information is stored in
- capacity: the amount that memory can hold
- duration: the length of time information is held in memory
RESEARCH INTO CODING:
- carried out by Alan Baddeley
- words that were accoustically similar were harderr to recall from STM (sound similar)
- words that were semantically similar were harder to recall from LTM (mean similar)
Conclusion: information is coded accousitcally in STM and semantically in LTM. e.g~hot, trot e.g~warm,hot
