Evolutionary influences on behaviour
human mind and behaviour has adapted to the environment we live in this is a result of natural selection
natural selection: process whereby certain traits are passed on if they enhance chance of survival and reproduction. for example altrusitic parent- many human behaviours are gentically determined
when breeding occurs genes are passed onto the next generation and so if a particular trait enhances someones chance to survive or reproduce they are more likely to survive than others without it.
EEA- environment of evolutionary adaptiveness- behaviours that will ensure an individuals survival in an environemt are adaptive
the human mind has evolved to respond to social situations
example- agressive behaviour- agressive ansectors would have greater chance of survival, protecting mate, offspring and resources and therefore would have higher chance of survival and reproduction- gnes for agression would be passed on every generation into modern day- genome lag- useful at one point not anymore
Localisation of brain function
certain areas of the cortex are responsible for specific functions
frontal lobe-personality and…
