SOME GLUCOSE DIFFUSES ACROSS INTESTINAL EPITHELIUM INTO BLOOD

When carbohydrates are first broken down there's a higher concentration

of glucose in the small intestine than in blood -- concentration gradient

Glucose moves across epithelial cells of small intestine into blood by diffusion

When concentration in lumen is lower than in blood, diffusion stops
