PRACTICAL: Making soluble salts 

 1. Pick the correct acid and an INSOLUBLE base- such as metal oxide, metal hydroxide or metal carbonate. 

2. Warm the dilute acid using a bunsen burner.

3. Turn off the bunsen burner.

4. Add the insoluble base to the acid, a little at a time until no more reacts.

When the acid is neutralised, even when stirred, the excess solid will just sink to the bottom of the flask.

5. Filter out the excess solid to get the salt solution.
