Making salts from solutions

we can make soluble salts  by reacting an acid and an alkali.

acid + alkali - salt + water

key points

  • When a soluble salt is made from an alkali and an acid, an indicator can be used to show when a reaction is complete.
  • insoluble salts can be made by reacting two solutions to produce a precipitate.
  • precipitation is an important way of removing some metal ions from industrial waste water
