Peace and conflict

The United Nations:

After the second world war around 120 million people were left dead. As a result of this and the war in general world leaders wanted to create a peaceful world and thus the United Nations were created in 1945 to prevent more conflicts from happening. In 1948 in Geneva they agreed on the Human Rights Declaration.

Other facts about the UN

It is made up of 192 countries

It is an organisation which brings countries together to discuss conflict - WFP (World Food Programme) and the WHO (World Health Organisation) and Peacekeepers are all part of the UN.

Just war theory


A just war is a war fought for the right reasons. Some examplea of reasons to fight a just war may be:

1) The cause of the war is just for example, in self
