Ingredients in paint:

• Pigments - a coloured substance used in paints or dyes. It is what gives the paint its colour
• Binding medium - sticks the pigment to the surface being painted
• Solvent - thins the paint so that it spreadds more easily

Oil paints:

• oil based
• pigmen is dispersed in oil which may dissolve in a solvent

Emulsion paints:

• water based
• ingredients dissolved in water
