Throughout Shakespeare’s tragic play Othello we see the cunning antagonist Iago manipulate characters and eventually cause the downfall of the tragic hero Othello. On one hand it is clear that Othello's complete trust in Iago is a main cause of his downfall but it is also clear that Othello’s tragic downfall could also be caused by his jealousy, pride and insecurities. Therefore making us question, is it a mixture of these flaws and his blind trust that leads to his downfall or just his blind trust in Iago?
