1920s - American economy booming. There was low inflation, low unemployment and low interest rates.
1929 - Wall Street Crash lead to an economic depression. There were high levels of unemployment, poverty and homelessness. Labourers migrated west to California in search for work. Drought and over-farming were reducing the amount of fertile land.
1930s - Roosevelt became President of the USA with a "new deal" to recover the economy. Improvement was slow and people, especially farmers, suffered a lot during the 1930s.
