Origins of elements:
Hydrogen was created in the Big Bang.
Heavier elements are created in stars while lighter elements fuse together.
Types of Radiation:
There are 3 main types of radiation:
Alpha, beta and gamma.
Alpha is a helium atom with a mass number of 4 and an atomic number of 2. It can be stopped with a piece of paper.
Beta is a singular electron, with a mass number of almost 0 (we just call it 0) and an atomic number of -1. Beta radiation is normally emitted from a nucleus. It can be stopped by a few cm of lead.
