NEO-MARXISM: CRITICAL CRIMINOLOGY

  • Influenced by traditional Marxism but combine with ideas from other approaches such as labelling theory 
  • Theorists: Taylor, Walton, and Young
  • They agree with traditional Marxists that the capitalist society is based on exploitation and class conflict and characterised by extreme inequalities of wealth and power. They acknowledge the state makes laws which serve their interests
