'Describe and evaluate the MSM of Memory' (10 marks awarded out of 10)
The multistore model shows us how memory can be stored as short and long term memory. Information which is usually about 7-9 chunks, can be inputted into the sensory buffer. This can only happen if the person is concentrating on what they are doing. This information is passed onto the short term memory. This store can hold 7-9 chunks of information and can last around 10-30 seconds.
It can be displaced by new information if it is not rehearsed. It is displaced by FIFO, first in first out. This means that the information that was taken in first will be displaced first. All this information needs to be rehearsed to allow it into long term…
