Aim:

• 150 students were shown a one minute film which featured a car driving through the countryside followed by four seconds of a multiple traffic accident.

Procedure:

• After seeing the clip the students were split into three groups and were each asked a question about the film.
• The first group was asked 'how fast were the cars going when they hit each other?'
• The second group were asked ' how fast were the cars going when they smashed into each other? And the final group wasn't asked anything.
• One week later they were called back…
