Independent group design. One group sat in a waiting room and over-heard a pleasant conversation in the next room and a man walked out holding a pen. The other group heard an agressive argument then a man walked out holding a bloody knife.

What were the results of this experiment?
When asked to recall the man in both conditions, the 'pen' condition participants were 49% accurate whereas the 'knife' condition were 33% accurate.
