The issue of going to war is one of the most controversial issues in the world as it can lead to enormous losses of human life an injustice. This has particular troubled philosophers thus the creation of a just war theory came along which was originally created by Augustine but as it troubled many other philosopher, Aquinas, Suarez, Vitoria and the UN have added to this. This include requirements for going to war and conduct during war.

Firstly, just war conditions for going to war requires considering five elements. There must be a just authority meaning that the war must be started by a legitimate authority and not by an incompetent government or a private organisation.
