The first Ionisaton energy is the energy required to remove the outermost electron of each atom in a mole of gaseous atoms to form a mole of gaseous 1+ ions

The second ionisation energy is the energy required to remove the second electron of each atom in a mole of gaseous atoms to form a mole of gaseous 2+ ions
